WHO WE ARE
Simon and Rachael Withers are third-generation farming family, together with their children Eliza and Lachlan. They own and operate their mixed farming business northwest of Naracoorte in the mixed farming district of Lochaber, South Australia. An average rainfall of 425mm, it provides the perfect conditions for sheep and cattle production on 1650 acres here at Pomanda.
Before relocating to their current home in Lochaber in the late 1980s, Simon’s parents had a grazing farm close to Robe where he spent his formative years. Due to demands from the wool industry to minimize black fibre contaminations in the middle of the 1980s, the family made the transition from the Suffolk ewes to White Suffolks during this shift. Rachael’s background is in agricultural science, having worked in sheep production and meat research for both South Australian primary industries and Adelaide University.
Together Simon and Rachael have continued their passion for producing quality sheep that are structurally sound, resilient, and highly productive.
Alongside the 2 studs, they have a self-replacing, non-mulesed, Merino flock and prime lamb enterprise of 1000 ewe and a 100-head herd of commercial stud Simmental Cattle.
